Belle Chen
Austrialian-Taiwanese pianist, graduated from Royal Academy of Music in 2013 with Master of Music in Performance with Distinction under the tutelage of Professor Ian Fountain. Belle is the winner and recipient of numerous prizes and scholarships, amongst which include: Ruby C Cooling Prize (2007), Minnie May Bussey Scholarship (2007), Hilda Woolmer Accompaniment Prize (2009), Brisbane Women’s Club and Yvonne Haysom Bursary (2009), and the QCGU Postgraduate Award (2010). From Royal Academy of Music, she received the Dominions Fellowship Prize (2011/12) and Helen Eames Prize (2012/13). Belle was an award finalist for 2010 Australian National Piano Award. She obtained her Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance with Honours from Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia), where she studied under Oleg Stepanov and exited with Fred Ellaway Prize for the best graduating pianist and all piano performance prizes. Belle has performed in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Spain, Italy, and China. Recent UK engagements have included solo recitals at Steinway Hall London, Colston Hall, and Senate House. Belle’s festival appearances include performances in the 2010 and 2011 Piano! Festival (Melbourne, Australia), 2010 Shanghai World Expo (China), 2012 Bloomsbury Festival (London), 2013 Camden Fringe Festival (2013), 2010 Encounters Festival, Teneriffe Festival, and the Queensland Youth Music Festival. Her performances have been broadcasted by ABC FM, 4MBS, and Dateline (TV). Belle also frequently appears with flautist Hannah Porter-Occena (USA) as the Occeña-Chen Duo. The Occena-Chen Duo released their first EP New Beginnings: Australian and American Duos for Flute and Piano in September 2013. In November 2013, her solo EP Listen, London- featuring imaginative performances of classical music repertoire with sound-design- was released with Eito Music.
Lysianne Chen
was born in Taiwan. She has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and is regularly invited to perform at numerous festivals : Festival de Musica de Coimbra with a Debussy Cycle, and 2nd cycle of Internacional Piano Festival on Wagner and Verdi's transcriptions. Recent engagements include concerts at many distinguished venues : Thatro Nacional Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Teatro Académico Gil Vicente in Coimbra, Rekstensamlingene in Bergen. Her recordings have been broadcast on national radio pt5 in Portugal. The year 2013-2014 highlights numerous concerts in France, Spain and Taiwan amoung others, with orchestras, solo recitals and chamber music programs. Lysianne studied piano at the Conservatoire of Caen and Montpellier in France with Christian David and Pascal Jourdan, and later at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Carole Presland, where she obtained a Master Degree in Piano Performance. During her studies, Lysianne had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with eminent musicians as Christopher Elton, Rolf Hind, Denis Pascal, Yvan Fedele, Maciej Pikulski, Pascal Nemirovski, in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland and United Kingdom.Besides performing as a solist, Lysianne is passionate about chamber music. In this capacity, she has worked with various instrumental ensembles and performs regularly a vast range of repertoire, appearing on international concert platforms.
Melody Kuan-Yin Lin
Taiwanese Cellist, was born into a non-musical family, and started playing piano at age of three and cello at the age of six. At the age of 13, she continued her musical education at Walnut Hill School for the arts in Massachusetts, USA, where she studied cello with Ronald Lowry, later years with Muir String Quartet cellist, Michael Reynolds; studied piano with Marc Ryser. She has entered Royal College of Music in London to seek for Bachelor of Music degree in September 2013, with Richard Lester, cellist of previous Haydn String Quartet/ member of Florestan Trio. A Neville Wathen Award supports her study at Royal College of Music.Melody has participated in many musical events during her five years education in USA, and she had performed in major concert halls with different ensembles in Boston and New York City. During the years in high school, she had participated New England Conservatory Preparatory School, where she had performed in orchestra at Boston Symphony Hall for several times. She performed in orchestra at Carnegie Hall for Walnut Hill Annual Gala in 2008, and at the same year, she had her first join recital in Taiwan with her Taiwanese teacher, Ling-Yi, Ouyang, who is current professor at Taiwan Normal University. At the year of 2010, she was selected to perform Julius Klengel- Hymnus for 12 cellos at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center for Walnut Hill Annual Gala. In years 2011 and 2012, she gave recitals at Boswell Recital Hall at Walnut Hill School, where she performed Bach No.4 solo suite and Schumann Concerto (2011), Bach No.5 solo suite and Chopin piano sonata with pianist, Chuang-Chuang Fang (2012). As a part of her musical education, she had participated a few summer music festivals in USA, Italy and Japan, where allows her to study with worldwide cellists such as Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (Japan), Bion Tseng (USA),… She has also played for Benjamin Zander at Walnut Hill School regular master classes.
Tai-Yu Ma
Taiwanese tenor, started his music learning at his age of 8. He has been trained as a professional vocalist since he was six grade. Mr. Ma earned his Bachelor degree and Master degree of vocal performance in Taipei National University of the Arts, now he is currently studying with Justin Lavender for the Master degree in the Birmingham Conservatoire. During his high school study, he demonstrated his talent by obtaining the first prize of Taiwanese Students’ Music Competition in 2003. He has also won the second place in Tau-yuan Singing Competition in 2005. Tai-Yu has had many opportunities to performing in Taiwan and overseas. In 2008, Mr. Ma took part in Kathaumixw Choir Festival as an invited artist with his college choir in Canada. Afterwards he performed as a soloist in the opening of the World Game in Kaoshoiung. In 2010 and 2013 Tai-Yu presented his personal recital in the Taipei National University of the Arts, also got scholarship from Longy school of music(Boston, USA), Temple University(Philadelphia, USA), Birmingham conservatoire(UK).In addition to his performing career, he takes part in several opera studios and choirs. for instance, Elvino in La sonnambula, Wall in Pyramus and Thisbe, Don Jose in Carmen, he will be the first officer in Dialogues des Carmelites. he has worked with renowned vocalists and pianist such as Mewas Lin, Justin Lavender, Robin Rice, Arthur Levy, Kathryn Wright, Perry Price, Heather Thomson-Price, Dale Throness, Joseph Hu, Mariolin Xu, Pei-Yao Wang, Maurizio Colaccichi, Ira Spaulding, Simon Nicholls, Julian Pike, Philip White, Robin Bowman and Stephen Barlow.
Becky Yen-Huan Wang
born in Taiwan and completed her BMus at Taipei Municipal University of Education in Taiwan with Professor Shu-Chun Chiang and Anders Norell. She is now pursuing her postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London with professors William Bennett and Kate Hill and Pat Morris.Becky has a lot of performing experience in orchestras and competitions, as soloist and in chamber music. In 2013 Becky won very highly commended prize of the Jonathan Myall piccolo prize. Since 2012 she has performed with Royal Academy of Music orchestras in many concerts. Also give some recitals in the local churches. From 2010 to 2012 she played as principal flute with the TMUE Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan National Concert Hall. She also had a tour concert with that orchestra in Thailand and a tour concert with Hsin-Tien Senior High School Orchestra in Malaysia. Not only have great passion in the classical music, she also likes to play different type of music. In 2012, Becky was invited to play the flute in the Shakespeare drama “The winter’s tale” at the Rose theatre which is one of the first Shakespeare theatres in London. In 2011, she played in the original musical production of “Passes through the four seasons” by TMUE music department and had tour performances in Taiwan.
Eddie I-Hung Yeh
Taiwanese violinist, is a student of Mateja Marinkovic at the Royal Academy of Music. A full-time scholarship, Benjamin Dale Award winner of Royal Academy of Music, he has appeared as concerto soloist with the National Tsing-Hua University Symphony Orchestra and in solo recitals throughout Taiwan.
